Argo has released an environmental impact statement that discusses Argo float’s impact during their entire lifetime. It also examines the environmental impact of alternate ways to obtain similar measurements and explores whether Argo floats should be recovered. Read the entire environmental impact statement.
BGC-Argo synthetic profiles are now being produced
Argo is now creating synthetic BGC Argo profiles (named *_Sprof.nc). These will replace the M-prof files and will be compressed into NetCDF4. The documentation describing these new files can be found here.
