Please see this notice about the virtual Deep-Argo DMQC workshop planned for 5 – 6 June 2023.
If you plan to attend, please register here: https://forms.gle/5ksAeq7eJgy2FFbS9
Objectives
This workshop is intended for delayed-mode operators of Deep-Argo floats to share their experiences regarding two important aspects of DMQC for Deep-Argo data: 1. the application of a CPcor adjustment for salinity from SBE CTDs; and 2. the evaluation of sensor drift to the expected Deep-Argo salinity accuracy of 0.004.
Participation
This workshop is open to all interested parties. Delayed-mode operators of Deep-Argo floats are especially encouraged to participate. Argo Data Assembly Centers (DACs) that are responsible for the real-time QC of Deep-Argo data and that are interested to learn more about the delayed-mode perspectives are also welcomed.
Format
This will be a virtual workshop, held in two 2-hr sessions over two days.
Proposed dates: 5-6 June 2023. Proposed time: 8-10pm UTC.
Day 1: CPcor adjustment for Deep-Argo salinity from SBE CTDs in delayed-mode
– 3 x 20-minute invited presentations
- importance of the CPcor adjustment for Deep-Argo salinity from SBE CTDs
- practical examples of optimized CPcor estimation
- how to decide whether to use the optimized or recommended CPcor values
– 1-hr open discussions
- share experiences and difficulties encountered
- share tools and codes for estimating CPcor values/ apply the new CPcor values
- feedback to real-time ‘A’ mode CPcor adjustment
Day 2: Delayed-mode sensor drift evaluation of Deep-Argo salinity
– 3 x 20-minute invited presentations
- practical examples of evaluation of Deep-Argo salinity to the expected accuracy of 0.004
– 1-hr open discussions
- share experiences and difficulties encountered
- share tools and codes
- anything else
