Susan Wijffels receives the 2023 Henry Stommel Research Medal

Congratulations Dr. Susan Wijffels for receiving the 2023 Henry Stommel Research Medal! She is being recognized “For exceptional contributions to understanding oceanic and freshwater storage and transport of heat and monitoring changes in the global hydrological cycle“. She will be presented with her award at the 103rd Annual AMS meeting in January 2023.

AOML to host ADMT-23 on 5 – 9 December 2022

The 23rd ADMT meeting will be a hybrid meeting taking place in Miami, FL the week of 5 – 9 December 2022. There will be BGC-ADMT sessions on the 5th and 6th and ADMT plenary sessions on the 7th – 9th of December. Meeting details and registration coming soon.

RBR data may be distributed with improved quality control flags

Data from rbrargo3 CTDs calibrated after April 2021 will now be distributed with improved qc flags.  TEMP, PRES and PSAL may all receive a qc flag of ‘1’ if they pass the real time quality control tests.  The data can be distributed on the GTS. Scripps Institution of Oceanography and UC San Diego remember Russ Davis and his scientific and engineering accomplishments. There will be a memorial service at Scripps in 2023. Members of the research community are invited to add tributes to Russ Davis. Please submit them to scrippsnews@ucsd.edu.
