he eighteenth Argo Steering Team meeting will be hosted by CSIRO in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, the week of 13 – 17 March 2017.
The Argo Steering Team Meeting is a time for the national groups who contribute to international Argo to come together and discuss logistical and technical matters pertaining to the Argo array.
All the meetings will be held at the CSIRO Marine Laboratories, Castray Esplanade, Battery Point TAS 7004.
The AST executive meeting will be held at 13h00 on 13 March 2017 in the Freycinet Room. Please be aware that Monday the 13th is a public holiday and the reception area to CSIRO will be closed. Please meet outside the entrance to the marine laboratories at 12h45 so that the group can enter the building together. No coffee or tea service will be served, so plan accordingly. Food and drink may be brought into the meeting.
The plenary AST meeting will be held 14 March 2017 through 16 March 2017 in the waterside meeting room at the back of the Cafeteria. The start time will be 9h00 on the 14th.
There will be an optional lunch time tour of the R/V Investigator on Tuesday 14 March. Please email mscanderbeg@ucsd.edu if you are interested in attending. Your name will be added to the approved list of tourists.
Ken Johnson will deliver a public lecture entitled, “Observing ocean health with the Argo armada of robots and chemical sensors”, at 19h00 on Tuesday evening, the 14th. Prior to the lecture, there will be a reception from 17h45 to 18h45.
Lunch will be purchased by attendees either at the CSIRO cafeteria or at local cafes and shops.
There will be a manufacturer’s day on Friday 17 March 2017. This event is being organized separately from the AST meeting by Greg Johnson of RBR. His website has information on the event, plus a CSIRO tour Thursday afternoon at 16h00, followed by a reception. The Friday event will also be held in the waterside meeting room at the back of the Cafeteria.
